December 9th, 2023

The best way to celebrate the holidays!

Join Take It Outdoors on a one-of-a-kind paddle through the Schuylkill Canal.
Each year is a unique paddle.  We have had warm weather, ice to paddle through and some years a good amount of snow to set the scene! Don’t put that kayak away just yet, come out and welcome the season in style!

DECORATIONS

Festive, but safe, decorations are welcome and encouraged…but not required.

TIME & LOCATION

We will meet at the Lock 60 Parking lot before 3:30 pm and plan to launch shortly thereafter. The access road to the park will be closed at 3:30 so be sure to arrive before then.

THE PADDLE

We will first paddle the two miles down the  Schuylkill River to the portage. As darkness falls, we decorate our boats, then continue up the canal two miles to the luminarias and SCA gathering.

FUNDRAISER

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Schuylkill Canal Association to help support this event for years to come.
